Problem Solving

Communication and Problem Solving at Work (CPS)

Professional Performance Australia (PPA) as a major area of its operation is involved with Communication and Professional Development.

We use a simple but extremely effective model called “CPS” for firms to arrive at better solutions. The CPS (Communication and Problem Solving at Work) model was developed by Dr Charles Margerison and has been effectively used by major corporations throughout the world.

A short video of Dr Charles Magerison being interviewed about this model is available by clicking on the CPS VIDEO link.

Dr Charles Margerison was previously the first Professor of Business Administration at the University of Queensland and the Cranfield University School of Management in the UK. He has tested his model across a whole range of business operations, from SMEs through to giant multinational corporations, in government and the public sector, in schools and factories, with outstanding results.

Professional Performance Australia (PPA) are accredited facilitators for the CPS resource(Communication and Problem Solving at Work) and can accredit in-house facilitators, thus saving facilitation fees.

The model has a strong focus of moving from Problem to Solution, using a structured process of Discuss and Decide.  To do this with high degrees of success, we develop the "Big 5" skills the model identifies and then have participants apply the skills to real case situations at work.

We offer 2 options.

Option 1 is a 2-day PPA facilitated workshop program.  Day 1 develops the skills and understanding.  Day 2, (1 - 3 months later) allows participants to present to their team members the progress made in skill development, organizational improvement and quality enhancement.  This option is highly recommended as apart from the highly effective input from our facilitators, there is the added impact of having "the expert with the briefcase" come in from outside.

Option 2 is a combination of coached and self-paced program work at the worksite without a PPA facilitator.  It requires high-energy from a leader to overcome the lessening of impact because of knowledge and familiarity with the in-house facilitator.

Both options require participants to complete an on-line, real time questionnaire.  The cost of the questionnaire and its support booklets is separate from the cost of workshop facilitation.

Feel free to contact PPA’s Directors for further information, details of costs or to discuss times that we may have available in our schedule that matches your requirements.
